Berthold Technologies has introduced its latest product, the LB 421
AshAlyzer Ash Monitor.
The AshAlyzer is a state of the art coal
analyzing measurement system designed for monitoring the ash content of coal
in real time. Using a well established radiation transmission technology,
the system provides continuous ash content readings with optimum precision
and reliability at a much lower price than online elemental analyzers.
Due to its modular structure, the LB 421
AshAlyzer can be adapted to suit individual needs. According to Dr. Dirk
Moermann, Berthold Technologies Product Manager, ..."the AshAlyzer can be
tailored to a customers application, ensuring accuracy. If there is varying
moisture, we can compensate for it and even provide a moisture output. If
there is high iron oxide or calcium. we can employ a third energy with our
x-ray module to compensate for it".
Applications of the LB 421 in the coal
industry include monitoring coal quality during train loading and delivery,
controlling coal preparation and blending methods, and monitoring coal
production for early recognition of trends in the coal composition. "Our
customers are looking for ways to increase coal output and be more
profitable," said Jon Buchanan, Regional Sales Manager. "The AshAlyzer helps
reduce waste and improve plant efficiency, as well as ensuring product
quality".
"The heart of the system is the dual energy
gamma transmission method that has been used for over a decade by a previous
generation of Berthold coal Analyzers", said Rhonda Mullins, General
manager, Berthold Technologies USA. She continued, "the improved design is a
result of years of customer feedback. Our customers wanted an improved
operator interface, and we listened. They wanted ease of calibration-and we
listened. Our R&D team has developed the most state of the art instrument on
the market and our customers seem to be very happy with the results".
Highlights of the new product include: a touch
screen graphic user interface, a full range of system connectivity options,
improved signal and data processing, and data storage on the on-board drive.
The product is simple to install on existing conveyor belts with minimal
space requirements and is designed to withstand harsh environments.
For over 50 years, Berthold Technologies has
been a pioneer in the development of radiometric measurement Technologies
for process control. Some of the measurement solutions provided are slurry
densities, hopper and chute levels, and mass flow of bulk materials.
